RAYE will voice a character in Benny Safdie’s upcoming film Lizard Music and will also write original pictures for the project, according to Deadline. The live action/CGI hybrid will be released on Dec. 25, 2027, by United Artists and is based on Daniel Pinkwater’s 1976 novel.

Dwayne Johnson, Theo Leber, Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, Arya Parvathi, Regina Hall, Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum, Rachel McAdams, David Krumholtz and Andrew Dice Clay. Johnson and Safdie previously worked together on 2025’s The Smashing Machine, the latter’s solo directorial debut.

More from Spin:

As its title might suggest, Lizard Music centers around a boy (Leber) who discovers lizards playing strange music on a secret late-night broadcast. He eventually joins forces with Johnson’s Chicken Man to find the source of the tunes. Filming reportedly wrapped earlier this month in Brooklyn, N.Y.’s Coney Island neighborhood, with Johnson necessitating five hours of makeup and prosthetic application every day on set.

RAYE just won the Mercury Prize for her 2026 album This Music May Contain Hope, which was also her first to top the U.K. chart. She set a Brit Awards record by winning six honors in 2024, including the first woman to take home Songwriter of the Year. She’s preparing to bring the new project around the world next year as part of This Symphony May Contain Hope. Live From Seven World Wonders, details of which are still taking shape.
