David Bowie’s estate has announced Bowie80, a year-long celebration marking what would have been the late artist’s 80th birthday on Jan. 8, 2027. The campaign will include special events, exhibitions, merchandise, performances, archival projects and fan experiences, with additional announcements expected throughout the year.

The first wave of Bowie80 projects includes a partnership with Nordstrom, which will launch Bowie-themed shops at its flagship locations in Seattle, New York and Chicago, as well as online. The stores will feature limited edition clothing and accessories from brands including Undercover, Marc Jacobs, Paul Smith and AllSaints.

More from Spin:

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland will host a Bowie80 retail pop-up from mid-November through January, along with events around Bowie’s birthday weekend. Programming will include Bowie-themed presentations, trivia, music, photo opportunities and an exhibition of photography, including previously unseen work.

In February 2027, Morrison Hotel Gallery will open Strange Fascination, a Bowie photography exhibition in New York and West Hollywood. The show will draw from the gallery’s archives and the David Bowie estate and will cover six periods of Bowie’s career, including previously unreleased photographs.

A new concert production, BOWIE (breaking) GLASS, will combine Bowie’s original recordings with live vocalists, musicians and orchestra alongside music by Philip Glass. Developed by Schirmer Theatrical and Copenhagen’s Østre Gasværk Teater, the production will premiere in Copenhagen in spring 2027.

Bowie80 will also bring the immersive exhibition David Bowie: You’re Not Alone to Manchester and Brighton, as well as Hamburg’s Port des Lumières. The show, which debuted at London’s Lightroom, combines concert footage, interviews and archival material with large-scale screens and spatial audio.

The Victoria and Albert Museum’s David Bowie: On Tour exhibition will continue touring the U.K. in 2027, beginning in Dundee before moving to Blackpool. The exhibition draws from Bowie’s archive of roughly 90,000 items. New Bowie80 merchandise will also be released through the official David Bowie webstore and Amazon, with additional products from licensees including Phix, Rockoff, Rowdy Sprout, Roots of Fight, Stoned Immaculate and Girl Skateboards.

Bowie died at age 69 in January 2016, two days after the release of his final studio album, ★ (Blackstar), which went on to win five Grammys.
