After a nine-year break, Blondie will return on Feb. 26 with its 12th studio album, High Noon. The BMG release is led by first single “Spectral Eyes,” a driving track written by former Smiths member Johnny Marr, who also contributes guitar.

Due out more than 50 years after the Debbie Harry-led band emerged from New York’s downtown music scene, High Noon also features former Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock, Beirut’s Zach Condon and Lucius vocalists Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig. It presents Harry, now 81, and guitarist Chris Stein, 76, alongside the final recordings by co-founding drummer Clem Burke, who died in 2025.

More from Spin:

“This album is classic Blondie — an amalgamation of all our different influences and eras into something new,” says Harry. “This music feels grounded in the present [and] shaped by who we are and how we’re living now.”

“It’s been a long, strange ride and somehow here we are with another Blondie album,” adds Stein, who has not toured with Blondie since 1999 due to a heart condition. “I’m not sure what the fuck I’m supposed to say at this point, except that we’re incredibly grateful for all your support over the years.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band recorded High Noon over the course of four years in New York with producer John Congleton, who previously worked on 2017’s Pollinator, with David Wrench later joining for additional production and mixing. Much of the album was tracked with the musicians playing together in the same room.

Other songs include “Heartbreak Kid,” a Stein composition written with Johnny Thunders in mind; “Sleepwalking,” written by Matlock; and “Man Who Had No Face,” a Stein-Harry collaboration built around pulsing keyboards and electric guitar. The band also revisits “Little Metal Drummer,” originally recorded by Blondie keyboardist Jimmy Destri for his 1981 solo debut, Heart on a Wall. Harry and Burke both performed on that original recording.

The album’s visual identity comes from artist and director Rob Roth, a longtime Blondie collaborator, working with creative studio Untold Studios. The project will extend beyond the cover art and visualizers to include a forthcoming short film directed by Roth featuring music from High Noon. “I wanted to create something unexpected, but something that still feels quintessentially Blondie,” Roth says. “High Noon exists in its own world — somewhere between the past, present and future.”

Blondie hasn’t played live since 2024 and has no dates on its calendar at the moment. For now, visit Blondie’s official store to peruse several High Noon variants.
